A member asked:

When should you accept negative results on an hpt? is it true some women don't get positive results until 6weeks and would that be a concern?

HPT's are sensitive: Home pregnancy tests are very sensitive. They should be done on first getting out of bed, when urine is most concentrated. Tests can be positive, in one with regular, classic, 28-day cycles, 4 - 5 days after missing the expected period. Iif ovulation occurs late in a cycle, conception is later, and a positive test will also occur later. A negative test is no assurance that you are not pregnant.

Blood test: If you missed your period by 4-5 days and home test is negative, it would be prudent to get a blood test for HCG level to settle the issue.
