A member asked:

Can a uri cause a white spot in the back of mouth/throat. that is what the dr said when he saw me. i'm just worried that its something worse. help?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

URI PHARYNGITIS: White spot in pharynx in context of URI may indicate a small pustule. If truly a pustule exists, then bacterial infection becomes more likely, such as Strep. Culture or rapid Strep test is prudent in this context. Yeast is unlikely in you. Fever is worrisome, if present. Progressive redness also is worrisome. Soreness of course is a worrisome sign. If worse, recontact the doc.
