Don't think so: Unlikely that there will be any long term effects. Certainly the smoke may have irritated their lungs, and they may have coughed. Also if asthmatic may be more prone to lungs getting irritated/inflammed. Since you stated they were fine afterwards there is no reason to think there will be long term consequences
