Biting hard: This is called bruxism, which is chronic grinding and/or clenching the teeth. It is a habit usually caused by stress or a bad bite. It usually occurs at night during sleep, but is also common during waking hours. See your dentist for an exam to diagnose the cause and a recommendation for the appropriate treatment. A bite splint can help prevent damage to your teeth, but will not stop the clenching
