Depressed mood: Depressed mood or inability to feel pleasure in things are the more prominent signs of a major depressive episode. Other symptoms include changes in sleep, changes in appetite, poor concentration, low energy, feelings of excessive guilt, moving too slow or too fast, and suicidal thoughts.

Loss of joy: May initially experience loss of joy. Symptoms of depression can include: feeling sad, irritable or angry. There can be a decrease in sex drive. Energy level & motivation levels may drop. One may socially isolate or stop involvement in normal activities. Sleep may increase or decrease. Weight can change in relation to increase or decrease in appetite. Concentration or memory may decline.
