Lag isn't problem: While fungal infections are the most common cause of balanitis, bacterial infections can occur. Cultures should be done to be sure that the bacteria is sensitive to the antibiotic. the lag period isn't important. If erythromycin is used, a full course is generally 5 days. Careful hygiene is important. It the problem persists, you MD should check for diabetes, other underlying medical issues
