No.: Fibroids are a benign smooth muscle growth; they do not degenerate into cancer. There is a very rare form of cancer that starts as the same type of cell. But these tumors don't arise from fibroids.

Rarely: A fibroid is a benign tumor. Rarely it will be associated with a sarcoma. Fibroids do not have to be removed because of concern that it will turn into a cancer. As long as they cause no symptom they may be watched.
