Good question: Temporal arteritis is rare in young adults. Sometimes TMJ presents with sharp pains in the temple. I'd have this situation looked into. You need a good assessment including a careful look at the back of the eye and a TMJ assessment. If the temporal artery is nodular or tender you need to have a blood test right away (CRP or Sed Rate).
