Gerd: My clinical experience says there is a higher risk of GERD in families. You can reduce this by not becoming obese, keeping alcohol to a minimum, avoiding lots of caffeine and chocolate. But sometimes, you just get it anyway and have to treat it. Smoking increases it as well. Seeing your history you m]need to keep with your good habits.
