A member asked:

During csection my blood pressure dropped to 80/30. is that really low? could i have died w/out the ephedran? is this common with spinals?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hypotension: The drop in your blood pressure is not uncommon following spinal anesthesia. You did not mention to her normal blood pressure reading before surgery. The best option is to give plenty of IV fluids and use vaso constricting drugs like epinephrine. I do not believe that you could have died with the readings that you have mentioned since the anesthesiologist are watching your vitals signs oral that time while inducing the anesthesia whether spinal or general.
