Not recommended: I do not routinely suggest cranberry juice to reduce the incidence of recurrent urinary problems. Although there are plausible biological mechanisms for such an effect, clinical studies to date have not definitively demonstrated efficacy in prevention of recurrent uncomplicated cystitis. It can't hurt though. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!

Not exactly.: Cranberry juice with no sugar is good for keeping bacteria from sticking to bladder walls and forming a biofilm leading to bladder infections, but also can increase oxalate crystals in the urine in high quantities that can lead to kidney stones in some people.

Cranberry juice: Cranberry juice makes the urine more acidic which prevents the growth of bacteria in the urine. Staying off of alcohol, aspirin and ibuprofen and cigarettes and drinking lots of water will help your kidneys recover from toxic exposure. If you are worried about your kidneys, see your doctor . There are simple in office tests which can test the health of your kidneys.

Cranberry: Cranberry has hippurate, which reduces bacterial presence in ureters and bladder. It also has antioxidants, which may help injured kidneys, though there are no direct data which say so with certainty. It has no other repair actions. Data do show that lower protein diet, low saturated fat diet, omega 3 supplements, sugar control if diabetic, bp control to 125/75-130/80, and nonsmoking aid kidneys
