Stones...masses: Inflammatory processes inside the parotid gland can cause pain. This can be from a stone/sludge blocking the drainage system or from a lump in the gland from a tumor. Positive signs- reapidly developing swelling, pain, foul taste in the mouth when you press on the face. Bad signs- change in the movement of the face muscles, trouble swallowing. Get checked out by an ENT soon.
