Chest pain/breathing: If it hurts worse with breathing and is progressing, it could be an infection and you will want to seek medical attention.

Pulmonary Embolism: Although symptoms are nonspecific it is important that life threatening illness be excluded. Pulmonary embolism is a blood clot in the vessels of the lung. These can be serious, even life threatening and require special imaging studies offered in the hospital setting.

Intercostal: neuritis? costochondritis? Pleuritis? Pericarditis? You need to see a doctor for an exam and testing . Contact to your doctor by phone and if you can not get a hold of your doctor go to an Urgent care center. Good luck !

Chest pain: Best to see your physician and perhaps have a chest xray and or EkG depending on the findings. Pain with inspiration can be from pleurisy or costochondritis. If short of breath, nauseated, sweaty call emergency services now. You are still young, but young people also suffer from cardiac disease and pneumothorax. Some gastrointestinal and musculoskeletal issues also cause pain.

Need more info: To determine if you have an acute respiratory problem like pneumonia, history of fever and other symptoms like cough and poor appetite is important . In absence if these, one can consider other causes of inflammation such as asthma or pleurisy. For now you can take anti inflammatory medicine like ibuprofen 400 mg every 6-8 hrs for 2-3 days. If still not improved. Pl get examined by your doctor.
