Don't bash the APA: without facts. "Gender Identity Disorder" in the DSM-IV was replaced by "Gender Dysphoria,” in the DSM-V as "emotional distress from a marked incongruence between one’s experienced/expressed gender & assigned gender.” If no medical diagnosis existed, insurance companies would refuse to pay for surgical, medical & therapeutic transition care as "not medically necessary", so the "bias" helps you.

How about this?: If you want to learn about bread, you ask a baker. If you want to learn about feeding pigs, ask a pig farmer. I'm guessing that the multidisciplinary teams that do the conversion (or whatever they call it) would have up-to-date information. Consider contacting one or more of them to see if they have the information you seek.
