A member asked:

Under arm temperature of 38 but rectal temperature of 37.4. baby was asleep before taking the temperature. what's more reliable? shots yesterday 2m

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rectal temps: Rectal temperatures are the most closely associated with true body temperature, followed by oral then axillary (under the arm). Tympanic membrane (ear) and forehead thermometers are unreliable in the pediatric population.
