URI: Colds, or upper respiratory infections, are most commonly cause by viral infections which resolve on their own in 3-7 days. Viral infections do NOT respond to antibiotics. However, when your immune system is taxed by fighting the viral infection, bacterial infections can set in. Symptoms that do not improve within a few days, worsening symptoms, new fever, or chest pain warrants a doctor visit

Most likely: You are developing a viral syndrome, just like the common cold. The things to watch out for to seek formal care are neck stiffness, severe throat pain that prevents your from swallowing, poor ability to eat/drink, persistent fevers, nonresolving symptoms. Otherwise, make sure you get some rest, stay hydrated, keep up your food intake and wash you hands well/cover your mouth if you cough.
