Don't feel paranoid: SSI is very inclined to reject applications for disability status and they don't need reasons to be suspicious. You and everyone has a right to your own medical records and most with a disability are likely to have exercised that right while trying to address their problems. An individual worker might have an 'attitude' you can challenge an unfair rejection and they'd have to justify the decision.

Federal law: requires that you sign a HIPAA-approved release of records at each doctor's office or facility at which you were treated. The records release is kept in your chart or electronic medical records. If there is a notation in the chart that records were released to you, it will be there the next time the provider is required to send updates to SSI. A patient has a right to request his medical records.
