High Cortisol: A 24 hour urine cortisol above 50 mcg is abnormal, level of 125 is definitely high and requires further endocrine evaluation. urine serotonin is not reliable, measuring a serotonin metabolite called 5 hydroxyl indole acetic acid ( 5 HIAA) is more reliable. one week prior to the 24 hr urine collection for 5 HIAA there is a long list of food & medications that need to be avoided for accurate result
