Get support and help: When people are depressed, it is important to have the right support in place. The first line is having good friends to listen. Parents can also be very helpful. In some cases, feeling down is normal. In other cases, it may be important for your friend to get help from a professional. If your friend is not safe, then help her see a doctor now.

Support: Best would be to encourage your friend to go talk to a professional. If he/she is in school, a school counselor to start. If not, a mental health center. And ask your friend about suicidal thoughts. If he/she has them, they should visit the ER.
