Exudate: The white stuff is called exudate. In the setting of cough and congestion, it usually indicates a viral pharyngitis. Antibiotics won't help. The infection should clear in 10-14 days. NSAIDS and tylenol (acetaminophen) would help with the aches and other symptoms. Hope this helps!
