A member asked:

I give 7w baby 4oz formula on demand every 3-4 hours and at longer stretches during the night. usually 24oz per day. is that too little?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dr. can check at 3mo: A young baby makes his own schedule and will fuss or cry if still hungry. Healthy babies are fed "ad lib", which means we let the baby decide how much to drink. (Usually, after 3 months of age a normal baby can be allowed to go 6-7 hours at night without feeding or other parental interaction.) The pediatrician can check the baby's growth at the 2 month check up next week, to make sure it's normal.
