Yes it can: An infection, whether it be yeast, bacteria, whatever, can and does cause irritation of the lining due to liberation of toxic substances from the offending agents and these will result in reactions by this MUSCLE having to do with spasms, urgency, frequency, and BURNING sensations even without urination. If your medication doesn't seem to be helping your doctor may not to look into an alternative.
