A member asked:

A while back i got tested for hiv 3 months, and then 4 and a half months after a random new year's eve hook up. it was negative both times. am i ok?

Depends on the test: If it was an antibody test, you are likely to be free of HIV, but it would be prudent to get tested again more than 6 month after the incident. You could get a HIV nucleic acid test, which if negative now would rule out HIV infection. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine.
