A member asked:

When my baby begins sucking on my right nipple it hurts badly for one minute. it isn't dry cracked or red and she is latching great. other nipple fine?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Breastfeeding issue: It's possible the right breast has a better milk letdown and the baby prefers that side, or sucks harder due to a better milk supply, but if you are feeling pain, have this looked at by your OB, maybe try more time on the left breast first, to see if she will go easier on the right side later. Have your OB do a thorough exam to see if this is early mastitis or a blocked duct causing pain with feed
