Yes: No problem, there are no known interactions. (also, I personally have been taking Zyrtec (cetirizine) for at least 10 years and prior to that, some kind of anti-histamine for 40 years - without harm).

Essentially: Uncomplicated allergic rhinitis responds well to both drugs. However, one study seemed to indicate that Cetirizine (zyrtec) works better. J allergy clin immunol. 1999 apr;103(4):715.

I gave my 8 yr old his zyrtec (cetirizine) this morning he takes 2 teaspoons. & bc he's sick I have him a teaspoon of ceron-dm for his cough. I read that it has an antihistamine in it too. I obviously won't give him more today but is that ok?

Not to worry: No harm done. At times we do give another histamine on top of zyrtec , Claritin (loratadine) or Allegra . I have seen children getting sedated or getting restless from it. Nothing else.

No: Cetirizine is also marketed with pseudoefedrine, which can be a stimulant in some people. Avoid zyrtec-d.
