Somewhat.: Some women have what I call "the mother of all menstrual periods" with the first period after giving birth. Your periods should return to normal after a few cycles. If they don't, or if you feel weak, lightheaded or queasy when you stand, please contact your OB. Meanwhile continue prenatal vitamins until your periods are normal again. If you're >2 months postpartum, tampons are OK to use.
