Punched in nose: It is likely swelling of the nasal membranes and with application of ice should resolve after a few days if not consult your physician

Broken nose: Apply ice and you can use over the counter Afrin (oxymetazoline) for 3 days. If there is no external deformity and you can breathe well after the swelling subsides, then there is no need to intervene. If in doubt at all, you should see an ENT or Maxillofacial specialist because there is usually a 2 week time window to get a broken nose set. X-rays are not useful at all for a broken nose.
