Optic nerve edema?: The optic nerve (disc) represents the anterior most part of the tract of information from eye to brain. Swelling of it may blur its edges or frankly obscure it altogether in cases of high brain pressure (ICP) If you have visual symptoms (spots, graying-out, blurry vision, headache, double vision, ringing in ears) you may have intracranial hypertension that can affect vision. "Blurred disc": may be due to optic nerve swelling or optic nerve drusen. An ophthalmologist can distinguish the two conditions. The CT scan of the brain cannot determine if the pressure inside the head is high, which can cause optic nerve swelling. For this, a lumbar puncture (or spinal tap) is needed.
