Can 2 ct scans of the head cause brain cancer?

Complicated: Any radiation can increase the possibility of changes in the DNA of cells and thus lead to cancerous changes. Having said that there are people with brain cancer that never had imaging of their brain. So yes, the more radiation to the head you receive, in theory the possibility of cancer increases

Unknown: CT of the brain does deliver radiation but the likelihood of developing malignancy from one or two studies is unknown. One must weigh the benefit to be gained from the study against whatever risk may be present. Careful selection of patients, particularly children is important when considering imaging.
