Would try different: PPI (proton pump inhibitor) and ask for EGD. Esomeprazole Nexium (esomeprazole) works better for some patients. Also adding H2 blocker like Axid or Pepcid can be considered.

BAD GERD: You are describing pretty bad GERD. Options are: take lansoprazole 30 twice a day; add liquid antacid every 2-3 hours, add sulcralfate (requires Rx).
