No: You have less muscle padding with age. Tailbone pain after long trips is extremely common as we do not move arou!nd much or take pressure off our tailbone during these trips. You can minimize the discomfort by sitting on a pressure relieving pad; avoid inflatable doughnuts as they frequently cause more pressure on hemorrhoids and can cause a clot in a hemorrhoid. See below: Sounds like you have coccydynia or 'tailbone pain'. This can occur with trauma to the tail bone, abnormally positioned coccyx, or poor sitting posture. Try using a good lumbar support to help shift your pelvis forward. This will put the pressure on your ischium. (bottom part of pelvic bone), and will shift the weight off of your coccyx (tailbone).
