Lifting: Isn't necessarily the problem, but rather how you lift. Are you still continuing to do range of motion and strengthening rotator cuff, scapular and shoulder exercises. Also, with your injury history, you made need to be careful, modify and/or avoid many overhead lifts(like military presses, etc) that place undue stress on your rotator cuff. Consider working with a PT for better guidance.
