Imaging metabolism: PET/CT of brain involves injection of isotope FDG18 intravenously and after waiting about forty five minutes imaging the brain with camera acquiring information about metabolism of brain. The isotope accumulates according to metabolic activity of brain. Can be used to detect tumors, in epilepsy for seizures, and some metabolic disorders.
