A member asked:

Negative tb skin, but positive blood test, what's wrong?

Dr. Jay Park answered

False negative Tuberculin skin test (TST). A number of host factors including viral infection, immunosuppression, poor nutrition, recent TB infection, and disseminated TB infection can decrease Tuberculn skin test reactivity. Blood test such as QuantiFeron TB Gold has a higher specificity when tests positive than that of TST.
