It's your choice: Despite all the "pop" psychology out there, and the claims that negative childhood experiences doom you to mental illness or behavioral aberrations or whatever, almost all of today's work shows that people have a tremendous ability to choose their own beliefs based on reason and love, and can practice new behaviors that they decide are right for them. Learn from the past, look to the future.
