Careful evaluation: spinal AVM need careful evaluation and very specific treatment based on size and location. Risks depends on size, location and proximity to other structures nearby the AVM

No short answer: Hi Laura -The word "spinal AVM" is used somewhat confusingly for different types of anomalies, each with different natural histories and treatment options. Considering that you husband's anomaly has bled once already, he needs to see a physician/team with experience in the diagnosis and management of spinal vascular malformations. Reviewing prior imaging studies (MRI) would be good first step
