Gray area...: A short luteal phase (defined usually as <10 days) indicates that your ovaries may not be releasing enough progesterone or the lining of your uterus does not respond appropriately to the progesterone. 12 days is in the "gray area." Discuss your concerns with your obstetrician. If you have had 2-3 miscarriages in the past, you will likely need further evaluation.
