One can feel : Throb anywhere the concern would be if this is constant or even Intermittant but doesn't go away...... Have you had this for any extended period?

Feel a hard cord on the lateral side of my lower leg that extends from just slightly above the ankle and into the calf. It is not the small saphenous.
I have been having some pain in my ankle , there is also discoloration in my right leg (near calf) , ankle, and foot. The pain is off and on and sometimes I will get a throbbing pain or dull achy pain. What makes it worse is that I bruise easily now?
Can reflex sympathetic dystrophy cause the small saphenous vein to stick out of the leg w/ below knee swelling?
How accurate is ultrasound? Have posterior lower leg swelling (ankle to calf). Multiple MRI and ultrasound returned nothing. Lymphedema ruled out too.
