Metronidazole: Metronidazole is excellent to fight diverticuilar infection; it eliminates anerobic bacteria; dosing depends a bit upon liver function, body size, and age - but the typical dose is 250-500 mg three times daily. Most adults with normal liver functions will receive 500 mg three times a day.

500mg: Meronidazole (Flagyl) is usually prescribed in 500mg doses for diverticulitis, not just diverticulosis.
