A member asked:

Is it necessary to take azathiroprine while taking remicade (infliximab) infusions?? what do the two drugs do to help you? or help each other.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It depends: Azathioprine can reduce the rish of infusion reactions to Remicade (infliximab) and can inhibit the production of antibodies to Remicade (infliximab) that can compromise its effectiveness. However, it is not absolutely essential to take it while on Remicade (infliximab).
