Many things: High uric acid can be caused when your body either produces too much uric acid or kidneys don't eliminate at a rapid rate. Factors that can cause this are diuretics, alcohol, genetics, hypothyroidism, obesity, psoriasis, p urine rich diet-organ meat, renal insufficiency, tumor lysine syndrome. This is a broad differential but diet can be modified, and uric acid levels can be retested.

See your doctor: The most common reason is genetics. Environmental exposure to lead can do it. So can psoriasis and vitamin B12 deficiency. There are two questions: one is whether or not there is a cause that needs to be treated. The other is whether the uric acid level is high enough to need treatment to avoid getting kidney stones. Your doctor can answer both of these for you
