Fluid in middle ear: Try a decongestant ,Pinch your nostrils and blow slowly ,It will help Eustachian tube function.

Water in ear: There are ear drops for swimmer's ear. The alcohol helps get the water out. Sometimes it is the inner ear which is 'squishy", and that would require a decongestant. At times just tapping the head with the ear down gets the water to drain. if it is the inner ear it could become painful when he goes to sleep tonight and the medication for that requires a doctor's prescription
