Pain, infection: Post herpetic neuralgia is when the pain from shingles continues for several months after the infection has resolved. Skin infection can occur if the blisters are not kept clean and covered. Vision loss can develop if it develops around the eye. Rarely inflammation of the brain, facial paralysis, or hearing and balance problems can occur.
