Had tonsillectomy today. uvula very swollen. i can breathe thru nose just fine sitting but laying on back it blocks exhale! scared 2 sleep! normal/ok?

Edema: Edema (swelling) of the uvula is common port tonsillectomy. Stick to soft cool diet and stay hydrated. Elevate your head of bed. If symptoms worsen your surgeon may recommend a steroid.

Expected: that said, you may need to see the doctor. if the uvula is that swollen, exicsing might be indicated, but it might be expected that the swelling will go down with time. Sleeping on stomach or side might work better for now
