Menstrual odor: An odor of menstrual blood may come from a tampon which inadvertently was not removed and is still in the vagina. Sometimes a "new tampon" is placed when the string from the previous is not seen, and the "old" tampon collects bacteria and has a very strong unpleasant odor. See your gyn provider for an exam, since an infection can result which can be dangerous.
