A member asked:

How to know if someone has bordetella parapertussis bacteria?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Need special culture: Finding some germs can be difficult, unless the doctor has a list of possibilities and 'goes after' each one. For Bordetella species, special cultures or tests are needed. The average doctor will NOT be looking for this. So you would have to see an Infectious Diseases specialist or bring up your concerns with a doctor who can take charge and order the specific tests for this germ.
