Patience: It could take up to 18 months for you to return to having regular monthly menses after taking the depo- provera (medroxyprogesterone) shot. If you had monthly menses before using the shot, you will probably eventually resume the same cycle. Be patient.

Up to a year: Depo-provera injections can disrupt your hormonal cycle for up to a year. Be patient and your periods should return to normal eventually. If you are not having regular periods after a year off Depo-Provera then see your doctor for an evaluation.
