See below: Nerve pain after breast surgery usually involves the anterior cutaneous and lateral cutaneous branches of the intercostal nerves , particularly 3 through 6 . This covers most sensation around the breast and nipple. There is less contribution from lateral and medial pectoral nerves. Pain is burning or stabbing. Oral gabapentin or Lyrica (pregabalin) are useful. If persistent, see a interventional pain doctor.
