You should not feel the hub at the external os ("opening"). It is no longer trustworthy, and may require removal/replacement. Use another form of birth control until otherwise instructed by your healthcare provider.

Yes: An IUD does not prevent STIs. They are for birth control only. Have your partner use a condom to help reduce risk of STIs.
