Meiobian gland: these glands secret fluid to protect the eye. Why it is having mineralization of the fluid is a mystery but it sounds benign. The Sjogren's syndrome could be the issue as this decreases your fluid and could be causing a dry eye, so artificail tears might be useful when you feel that grainy sensation and it isn't a grain but lack of fluid.
